What is enrichment for your dog?

Enrichment for dogs is a way to stimulate a dog's mind or body. Common ways to provide enrichment are physical ways like running or walking, but we often forget to exercise a dog's mind! Take a look at different ways to add more enrichment to your dog's life 🐾

Idea #1 💡

Slow Feeder

Dinner can be fed in different ways! A household favorite are Toppls or Kongs. You can use a regular bowl as well! Fill your choice of container with your base (turkey, kibble with water, a steamed veggie mix) and add our snacks on top/inside! We love to use our Chicken Feet, Tasty Turkey, Crunchy Chicken, and/or our topper collection. Once assembled, place in the freezer for a couple of hours and ta-da! You have an enrichment that will keep your dog busy for 30 minutes to an hour! 🐶

Snuffle Mats!

Snuffle mats are a great way to encourage your dog to use their natural skills; hunting with their nose! Although there are many fancy snuffle mats on the market, you really just need something that your dog can dig their nose in and try to find their tasty treats. You can use a rug at home, a box full of rolled up socks, or roll the treats lightly into a towel. Sprinkle over the top the first time and then increase the difficulty every time to make it interesting! We love to use any of our training treats for this type of enrichment!

Hide & Seek 👀

In our home, Shiloh and Bodie love to use their sense of smell to find their treats! Unlike the snuffle mats, you would use your environment to hide your treats! We started off letting them smell the treat, throw it somewhere on the floor, and encourage them to "find it". Once they got the hang of it, we made it more difficult. Now I hide it anywhere in a room, at floor level or eye level for them! We love to use our snacks with a lot of scent; anything from Bodie's Bakery or Wild Bear! 🐻

Idea #4 💡

Lick Mats

Lick mats are a great way to keep your dog busy physcially and mentally. You can grab any lick mat from Amazon or your local pet store! For your base you can add; natural peanut butter (no xylitol), unsweetened applesauce, or plain yogurt to spread. On top you can add any of our treats or even toppers! Place these in the freezer for a longer enrichment time or give right away! Either way, they'll enjoy it 🐶

Interactive Food Dispensers

There are many active food dispensers out on the pet market to choose from! These are great for really working your dog's mind. These type of toys encourage your dog to figure out how to manuever their way to that tasty treat! We love to use our training treats since they're usually the smallest to use! Our training mix is perfect for this. 🐕

Trick Time!

Let's go back to the basics...training! A dog can never have enough training. Use any of our treats to teach your dog a new trick! My favorite thing to do with my dog's are teaching them something new. Teach them something simple like sit or down or something more challenging like roll over or bang! 🦮
